If you aren't seeing any flame at all then it is probably a bad ignitor. If the flame sensor was bad then you would see the flame come on for a few seconds and then go back off.

If you know very little about furnaces, you shouldnt be attempting to fix it.... you could easily end up with a broken furnace that needs expensive parts to fix it... pony up a few bucks and call an HVAC man..
