I have been having similar issues lately...I am using a Netgear wireless N router but I get a good deal of lag randomly throughout the day...

I have noticed sporadic DNS issues lately

Might want to try open dns

That is who I am using... It seems its a Verizon issue.

T0-0-4-0.NRFLVA-LCR-22.verizon-gni.net seems to be one of the culprits but I cannot be sure.

Either way pings in the high 30s-40s is a little high for my taste

Why are you being routed through a Norfolk, Virginia Vz Router if you are in Trenton?
