My policy: I do not opt-out of that to which I did not explicitly, consciously opt-in. That means that if you bury a default opt-in somewhere I'm unlikely to notice it, and I don't like the results: You're toast. Forever. If you do it to me or mine at work: You're toast for the entire corporation. Forever.
I'm abuser-intolerant. Yup: I get to define "abuse" and my judgement is not open to negotiation.
