Getting slammed

At first, I thought it was someone was either slamming our account trying to get in, or someone is trying to gain access to our dsl line, and that's my problems I've been happening, thinking its something similar when a server gets DDoS., but no... she said our account was being slammed. Someone is trying to take over our long distance calling. They wanted to add a PLOC Freeze, but I didn't say so. The lady wanted me to very badly, she even said ill call you and transfer you to a security rep. So, I recommend all of you chat or call and ask if you have a PLOC Freeze.

And now that I look on our caller ID, card services called and looking at the phone number, it's to 3L Communications.

Steve - Are you saying that you talked with a Frontier CSR and they told you that someone was trying to SLAM your long distance service? Or was it someone else.

But did you long distance service actually get transferred to another carrier?

I had a similar incident about 4 years ago and have had a block on my service since that time.

I talked with Christine at frontiers online chat, and she said someone is trying to slam it, but have only done so part way, if we go over our 30 minutes of long distance we will be slammed by the FCA, which I have no clue who they are.

She may be talking about the False Claims Act, but I don't know how that applies here. Frontier can stop the transfer if you tell them to do so. That was my circumstance. It did not cost anything to have the block placed on our service. But I am unclear about the 30 minute over you long distance. Is it that someone is actually using your long distance service without your permission?

She said its a long distance company, and she wanted to put a block on it and it's free. And 30 minutes is how many minutes we have with digital phone essentials.

OK, that makes sense. The nice thing about the block being placed is if someone tries to move you and Frontier will call you. I'll have to go back and review the information, but if I remember correctly in order to change to another long distance provider you will have to provide authorization to Frontier in writing.

It's writing or verbal, I checked out the FCC website.

But they could totally port us over for all calling and LD, right? And just not if we go over our allowance.

I don't know what going over your allowance has to do with someone slamming your long distance service. I don't think that can move your local service over to a new company. Unless you have other carriers that serve your area.

I do know that before a change to another company can be made to my long distance service I have to notify Frontier. The company trying to or wanting me to accept their service cannot be the one to notify Frontier to switch my long distant service.

The 30 min thing is something that you get free if you have a land phone with Frontier and agree to a term contract where you get some features at a set price 30 mins LD you get this even if you dont agree or chose a LD carrier at start of the term.

I believe you are referring to the 30 day limit. If you are slammed you have 30 days to protest the fraudulent activity and be not be able to be held liable for those charges. Once beyond 30 days it will be considered a valid debt/contract you will be obliged to pay the long distance carrier whatever they have charged you.

To answer two things idk about a 30 day thing but know about the law and dought the 30 day limit basicly the limit on anything that defrauded or scamed someone is min 3 years. And to Steve about the going over the 30 min of free LD has nothing to do with a 3rd party LD company trying or performing a slam on you to make them your LD carrier as the set default one. If you go over the 30 min of free LD and make a LD call it will just default to Frontier and you will be charged thier standard LD rate per min.

I'm for sure that's what the rep said. If we went over our 30 minutes of LD calling we then get slammed.

If she misinformed me, could we already be being slammed without us picking up one of their scam calls?

You can just dial zero for the operator and see who you get.
