Yep, they're really awful this year. It's actually made me think about treating for them, and I don't really believe in lawn treatment. Between the drought last year and all the damn dandelions this year, my lawn looks terrible.

I use that Scotts weed & feed stuff you hook up to the hose. It actually works really well. I only use it in front though. I don't use anything in the back because of the dogs. So the back is f**ked.
It doesn't help having a vacant house next door that's turned into a dandelion farm.

While that may seem like a lot, it is very small when you compare it to how many miles I did last year. The pic above is from an excel file that I have where I kept track of each trip I did last year.

So far this year, I've been on the bike 3 times, and rode just under 111 miles.

Lots of people were out today on the trail (bikers, walkers, joggers, rollerbladers) as well as on the river (boaters, water skiers, jet skiers, and kayaks).

I only went about 50 miles, but I took my time and did a lot of sitting and enjoying the day along the way. Got back to Fox River Shores around 6:30 PM.

Both cars submerged with water half way through the wheels with water inside the cars. Two feet of water in the garage, snowblower, two lawn mowers submerged and water got into the motors. My utility trailer was completely covered and it has bad bearings now, have not looked at the electrical yet. Tossed out tons of tools and electric gear from the garage. Both cars totalled.

The first area of flooding was not to bad (less then an inch I would think) as I was able to slowly ride though that.

However, it was a different story a bit farther south at Sterns Road! :) I also went for higher ground and took the trolley tracks as the water did look a bit deep at that point.

Outside of that, the trail was fine. It looks like it was flooded just north of St. Charles (south of Red Gate Bridge and the golf course) but the water has somewhat started to go down, so there was no issues there.

Island Park in Geneva is of course under water, so you have to go around that using the same detour that was in place last summer when they were redoing the bridge on the north side of the park.

Other then that, it was a great day to be out on the trail. I did see lots of people out again as well.

The bridge itself was clear, so we crossed over and followed the Sterns Road trail to the Prairie Path and took that back to Elgin. Once the sun came out, it was a beautiful day to ride.
