Teksavvy Cable Congestion?

I'm getting bandwidth and ping issues. Looks like it's beyond my local node, and somewhere in Tek's network.

Tracing route to www.google.ca [74.125.129.94]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 192.168.1.1
2 10 ms 10 ms 13 ms 10.125.121.1

4 11 ms 17 ms 13 ms 24.52.255.162
5 12 ms 14 ms 13 ms 24.52.255.85
6 15 ms 13 ms 15 ms 206.108.34.6

14 * * * Request timed out.
15 84 ms 87 ms 89 ms 74.125.129.94

Anyone know where those IP's are in the network?

I'm also having video streaming issues, choppy playback, and speedtest results are coming in around the 15 mbit mark. Not horrible yet, but not wonderful either.

Anyone else in KW experiencing this? Or other cable users?

Further investigation leads me to believe this is a routing issue on the other side of Tek's network.

Since your not using Teksavvy DNS servers your being sent to servers further away which means longer pings. Two tracerts, first using Teksavvy DNS servers to resolve www.google.com and the second to ping the address you resolved it to.

Yes. I use a third party paid DNS service to give me access to american netflix and hulu. It seems there is a price for it.

There is nothing wrong with that traceroute output.

Note that for www.NetFlix.com the IP address you listed is actually the tunnel/proxy server your third party paid DNS based service directs you to for traffic it needs to proxy/tunnel so Netflix thinks your in the US.

I still expect higher speedtest results on my 28 mbit service than 15 mbit, though.

Speeds are getting pretty slow on cable here in downtown Vancouver.

Streaming video iTunes is just not an option on my internet connection. I don't know if it's a routing thing or what, but it sucks.

It's pretty slow here on Vancouver cable. Slingbox streaming is unusable when streaming from Toronto (Also TSI).

And a bit later in the evening, without me doing anything at all... Magically better...

Really feels like a congestion issue somewhere.
