Re: [Hockey] Official 2013 Toronto Maple Leafs Thread

said by Clipper:

Stop pretending this is unique to Leaf fans.

I'm not pretending that. I'm not claiming that.

said by Clipper:

The difference is they are more visible because there are way more of them most other teams and far more likely to go on road trips to see them play simply because the availability and affordability of going to see them locally is out of reach for many.

There are just as many road fans at SBP when the Habs are in town, but always fewer troublemakers than when the Leafs are in town. And sure, there are fewer Rangers fans (for example) showing up to games in Ottawa compared to Leafs fans - but a far smaller percentage of them cause problems.

Percentage.

Neil didn't win anything

80% of the voters on hockeyfights.com say you're wrong.

Interesting to see 6% said Orr won....but they bleed blue and would
vote for an Orr win if he was flat on the ice with his nose sticking out
the back of his head and his teeth scattered everywhere

It doesn't have to be a punchfest to be a win. Smart fighters know
how to win fights even with guys bigger and stronger.

big deal, the Leafs are one of the most hated franchises...plus, Leaf fans don't need to "rate" their players...we watch the highlights of the fights...it was a grapple, with minimal punches thrown or landed...the Brown/Tootoo was a fight, the Orr/Neil wasn't.

I thought the Canucks were the #1 most hated team? We're proud of that fact.

Maybe the Canucks are on one of the most hated teams....but just mention the Leafs in mixed company and watch the barbs and negative comments fly. As if I have something to do with their recent playoff success or draft history or whatever. It's quite comical. It's just a general "Y'know the Leafs suck, right?" kind of attitude.

For my local Flames fans, they don't like having their own hypocrisies pointed out to them. Like, before their Cup run in '04, the Flames had missed the playoffs 7 straight years and are working on a 4 year drought right now. Oh, and my personal favourite; Since the Flames won the Cup in '89 (89!), they have won exactly 3 playoff series, all of them in '04 Cup run. And then there's smug Oilers fans. Oy vey....

Luongo, meanwhile, comes with the dreadful contract, but let’s be honest; he would solidify Toronto’s goaltending for 3-5 years.

yea, and bury the team financially for another 5...no thanks.

No Problem this is what they will do.

"Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment will hike ticket prices for the Raptors and Maple Leafs by about 2.5 per cent across the board starting for the 2013-14 seasons."

Thanks you Bell. And Rogers and Classy Loyal fans.

Well, Leafs are now on their first official suckfest of the season, losing 4 straight (one in SO).

Lost 3-1 to pens today after they thought they could win 1-0 in the 3rd period.

Really, Fleury stole that game for the Pens. It easily could have been 3-1 for the Leafs.

Lost again? They are on pace for one point per game and out of playoffs.

It's not so bad, they won sometime last week. Not like the 9th was a real loss, they lost in a SO so that doesn't count, right?

You're right, it isn't that bad. 3 of the 4 losses were against 2 of the top teams in the East. It's a tough stretch of losses, but it was also a tough stretch of opponents.

the losses have also been "tight games" (basically, 1 goal games, aside from empty net goals and the other night in Winterpeg)...i'd rather lose 3-2 like they often do this year, instead of the 7-1 and 6-0 beatings like before.

watched some highlights and Crosby makes Dion looks like from AHL.
Dont know why he is sol slow now-days. And the guy in 55(Holzer)...why is he still playing while Komi is benched.
As usual no show for Grabo and Kuli. Too much dingle danle from Grabo and Kadri.

What, Kadri caused the Pens to take at least two penalties and damn near scored on a couple occasions. He's been their best guy at sparking something when he's on the ice. Did you mean to say Kulimen again? I agree re: grabo/kuli - nothing from them.

True look at the save he made on Kadri and the one were he was going the wrong way and made a save with his toe. Fleury totally stole that game from the leafs.

That game could have gone either way with the way both goalies ( Scrivens and Fleury) were playing last night.
