TP-Link 8xx1 modems?

TP-Link has been phasing out the 0's and bringing in the 1's so the 8950 is being replaced with 8951, 8960 with 8961, etc etc etc.. Do the 1's run the same modem chipsets as their 0 counterparts? I'd hate to recommend for someone to buy the 8951/8961 and later find out that it has the same chipset as the 8x16's.

It would probably be a good idea to ask TP-Link.

Thanks for the heads up. I got the same from the manufacturer - they e-mailed me overnight, which means 8951/8961 are non-starters. Might as well use the $20 8616/8816.

Is there anything readily available from the usual suspects that still runs bcm?

My 8816 just recently shat the bed after nearly 3 years of reliable service. The worst part was, it didn't just happen over night, but over time, slowly degrading to the point where it just became completely unusable.

These work very well and are broadcom based.

No problem. They frequently go on sale for less than $30.
