seaquakePremium,MVM join:2001-03-23 Millersville, MD | reply to Jan Janowski Had this happen to me with foaming insulation. Per the can's instructions, I used petroleum jelly and kept wringing my hands together. Took a good bit of time but it flaked off without removing the skin. |

It contains a very low concentration of safe solvent, making it much easier on the skin than old style high solvent products.

 | reply to Jan Janowski WD40 helped a bit... But the best was washing my hands every 30 min, and then putting wife's hand lotion on them when dry... and repeating in 30 min -- Looking for 1939 Indian Motocycle |

 | reply to Jan Janowski Diesel fuel works well too. And have had some success with -any- motor oil (used or new). |

 | reply to Jan Janowski My mom used to make my dad put on some hand lotion on his hands before doing any work on the car or using the spray foam etc. Dad admitted it did seem to help get the gunk off later if he remembered to use it. |

 | reply to AMDUSER My use of Paint Thinner just helped to spread it around, it didn't remove any of it...

| The correct answer has already been given several times - it's acetone. It's cheap and available at almost any hardware store or beauty supply store. I'll bet your wife already has some. A lot of nail polish remover has acetone in it still. I just looked at my wife's, and it says "100% Acetone".
I have a can on the shelf from Home Depot specifically for cleaning up spray foam "incidents". It was $5.00. Her bottle from Sally Beauty was $1.59 (The same amount I got from HD for $5.00!!!). -- If someone refers to herself / himself as a "guru", they probably aren't. |

 | reply to Jan Janowski As mentioned natural oil and perspiration will release whats stuck. But you can help that along by drinking lotsa extra water n oils then exercising to perspire extra. Scotchbrite pads help if you are in a hurry |

 | reply to Jan Janowski Also art supply stores carry a variety of soaps & greasy soap-like formulations to go with all the liquid choices. Some are like Lava, some look like neatsfoot oil used to soften leather. Those gently lift off tacky stuff of all kinds, esp those Krazy or Gorilla glue things done w/o gloves thinking, oh just a small job. Add hand lotion at end. Oh and don't try peeing for awhile.....

 | reply to Jan Janowski I have the metal gun that takes the cartridge cans of foam. They sell a gun cleaner in a slightly smaller can. The cleaner comes with a spray tip for cleaning external parts. The cleaner dissolves ANY and ALL traces of foam, cured or wet. It is unbelievable. I know you probably won't run out and get some of this but for anyone looking for a way to clean up after foaming get a can before you start. |

those are the only 2 necessities in life |
|
 | reply to Jan Janowski WD40 didn't do as good as alternately washing hands, followed by rubbing in hand lotion...
It's all gone now... Though I will be re-visiting the area and finishing the job today....
With Rubber Gloves On!!! !
So this thread has lasted longer than the stuff on my hands did..... That is.... Unless I get more on them later today!
