| Official Torchlight 2 thread OK! Over this weekend I picked up TL2 for $10 off steam and been having fun with it, so I figured we can start a new thread to talk about it!
So far I'm liking it a lot. It is an improvement over TL1 in that there's more variety in the scenario (outside, indoors, dungeons) vs just dungeons all the time in TL1. You can also pick skills out of any 3 trees that you like. You can also pick male/female, so (limited) sets of faces/hair/hair color, and you can pick 1 of 12 pets to be your friend!
One thing I still don't like is the lack of freedom to respec at any time. You can only redo the last 3 spec points that you did. I found myself spending more time reading about possible specs so I don't waste 40 hours and have to redo, and stressing about it, then decided that since I will just play solo and have fun, I enabled the developer console so I can respec at any time. Supposedly this marks you as a cheater on online games, but meh, a lot more fun since I can explore and try out all the cool skills.
You get a lot more "set" and "unique" gear, so you feel more special about finding stuff.
My main right now is a level 10 embermage, using prismatic bolts. Auto seeking lasers ftw! Playing on veteran, which I think is a good level of difficulty for me. I have to actually work to kill mobs and bosses, not steamroll everything. |
