constant DC when trying to download

Trying to download something and even tho it's only downloading at 100 kb/s windstream KEEPS DCing me every 5 mins. Is there some new rule about downloading as in you can't download anything?

Windows says, "Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server)"

Hmmm that DNS server yet again seems to be the only thing i ever see not working.

I would suggest using Google's PublicDNS (»developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/) or OpenDNS (»opendns.com/)

Set it on your modem instead of thru Windows

Are any of the lights on your modem turning red? Are you hardwired or wireless?

I've never seen the lights turn red even when the internet DNS server drops.

Does your phone crack and pop when it rains (or even when it doesn't)?

Hour 4 on about the 12th DC now I went and check our land phone it does seem to have a kind of crackle to it.

Also to your first post about the DNS i tried open DNS but it didn't work.

Well I doubt it would be a DNS issue, but WS's DNS servers are a joke even when they are working. To me I'd say there is an issue with your line. What modem do you have and do you use a router?

Sorry I have not responded recently, I been addressing other duties this week. I do not believe this is a DNS issue either. Has a service technician been out to your residence in the recent past?

I believe so, it's the modem/router build something fast i need to look it.

I know when we called in it happen and they could see what it was doing but unable to point out just way.

It's a F@ST1704, when it happens I only been saying DNS cause that's what the windows network thing is saying tho the modem it's self has no change in lights it's all green and the lines connected are still flickering.

Ya they have been out before they've changed the line in the house and outside and we 've had new modems to try. For the most part it works ok but should i try to download a game or update one like warcraft even if it's only downloading at 50kb/s it like's to DC

I only say it's the DNS cause let's go with blizzard game's. I ask them about why the authenticator they use with games keeps asking me for a code and they said it's cause my DNS has changed 5 time's in the few hours.

That is because of the DC's. Same thing happens to me when there's some moisture in the air (read: rain shower) and my connection is up and down. Every time the connection resets you get a new IP address from the DHCP, and when you try to connect to Blizzard's servers they see that different address and ask you to authenticate again to ensure that it isn't someone from a different location trying to access your account.

On the bright side their authentication system does keep track of IP's you've successfully authenticated from, although I kind of doubt they will keep a record of all the 254 addresses in your subnet lol

And on a bright not so side another hour down tho it is raining so I kinda saw it coming.

Another fun night of non stop DC for about 3 hours. Each time saying
"Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server)"

Tho now that most the raid has left Ohio it seems to be a little better.

Another raining night so far 2 hours down.

Far as i can tell on the modem the internet light is out and the DSL light blinks then goes faster and just keeps doing that while it's out.

Well timed it at about 10 hours last night from 11 PM to 10 AM when we tried turning off the modem again. Seem strange that we lose internet every time it rains it's getting worst rep then dish networks and not being able to watch TV when it rains but you can.
