Port forwarding question - 3600HVG

Since I got Uverse, I just set the PC in the DMZ and it runs great. It also runs OK if I set the firewall in the modem to "Maximum protection - Disallow unsolicited inbound traffic", although unsolicited traffic will obviously be dropped.

So, I wanted the middle ground and set a user defined application and in the definitions, I specified 5060 UDP (sip), 5070 UDP (sip) and 49152-65535 UDP (sip) and DNS doesn't work. I can ping by IP address, but can't ping by hostname.

I hardcoded the dns servers, and tried letting the modem be the dns server, either way, couldn't get name resolution if I try to set a "pinhole" in the router.

Any ideas? Trying to get a magicjack running on a private IP. Works great when on DMZ.

I tried the forwarding of 49152-65535 without the sip designation and the problem continued. So I got rid of this range and the DNS is back.

Made a test call - seemed to work. So maybe the SIP thing on port 5060 and 5070 operates a trigger that permits the connection on the higher range ports.
