I have a Cisco Linksys e2500 and on Comcast Xfinity at the office. I want to know exactly what I need to do on the router to open up access to my computer at the office from home.
I searched some things but i don't think they are going to work. Applications & Gaming / Single Port Forwarding /... but these are only for the local network as they are all 192.xxx...
Can someone please assist?
my goal is to either ssh or ftp into the computer to download files that would be needed while i'm not in the office. -- Why are you so surprised to see sinners in church? Are you shocked to see sick people in a hospital too?
You might want to ask this in the Linksys forum. This forum is used mainly to discuss Ciscos enterprise kit.
But based on my sketchy memory of Linksys kit, I think theres some way to create or define a "server", of sorts? The basic parameters are: the incoming port the router will listen on, the destination IP to forward the packets to, and the destination port to send them to.
