I also made sure it was the DVR expander. If you purchase any drive then it might work for a short period of time and then fail. The DVR expander model is made to handle the demands of the DVR.

I called the number on Saturday afternoon (they're available 7x24), the agent asked me for a bunch of information (from the screens listed on the links above). Then asked me to move the card from the old Tivo (still on) and put the card into the new Tivo (also on). Provide some additional information from the new box and then she started the process. The main part took only a few minutes but the rest of the channels took an hour (she warned me it would).

After I got off the phone with her I did try a few channels that I would normally get (HBO, for example) and it took me directly to the Cable Card Tivo page. Other channels such as CBS (Channel 2 and 802 in my area) worked immediately. I then came back an hour later and I could get to all the channels. I did have to run the channel select on the Tivo again as, with the M-Card, the Tivo has a different line up than without the M-Card. We're now reviewing the rest of the channels to see if anything has moved. Unfortunately for me, I don't watch much TV so I don't recall where the channels are and what we have (but my wife does).

A little later my wife and I found that we were missing our premium channels. A quick call to Comcast fixed it. Now we have all the channels we pay for and a new Tivo with a few hours of space.
