About the only thing you can do is buy a verizon hotspot and use the simcard in a smartphone.

They do, on occasion, check the IMEI and the SIM...

Why would one care if they check ? by fcc rules you can switch sim cards on vzw network, no matter what device it is as long as it is oked device be on the network.
