kudos:1 | Reddit I realize this is OT but I didn't want to redirect the conversation in McB's farewell post and steal his thunder so I'm creating a new thread for it.
WTH is Reddit and the stigma around it?
I've only recently been exposed to it when I found it included WoW posts and I was able to subscribe to it through the Google Reader. Some of the posts were from people saying they were just starting the game and looking for people to help them so I sent them messages in an attempt to get them recruited to our guild. Over the break my step daughter was home from school and I mentioned this to her and she looked at me and responded with "what are you doing on Reddit" like I had just told her I was posting under the personals on Craigslist. And now I see some of you taking jabs at it also. So what gives? Clue me in.

No... not at all.
Reddit is amazing. Once you can get beyond the kittens and athiests, it's a great resource for knowledge and amusement.

Reddit is a site where people can submit links. People either ignore, vote they like, or vote off topic. The main page has a selection of default forum things and they are the most popular site topics.
In theory, the highest rated stuff is at the top. If you submit something and someone likes it, you gain link karma. If you post something and someone likes it, you gain comment karma.
In theory the best stuff ever of that part of the day (main page refreshes constantly but it's usually totally new every 5 hours) is visible.
