Re: [FireFox] FF 18 sluggish,.........

There's definitely something wrong. The bookmark menus are very laggy after updating to 18. Task Manager shows Firefox using 10% of my i7-2600K when just moving around the bookmark folders.

Same here. Accessing the bookmarks menu causes the computer to lag. The only add-on installed was QuickJava and disabling it didn't matter.

I reverted back to v17.0.1 and things are working fine again--no lag. I have over 2,000 bookmarks.

edit: v18 was clean install, not upgrade. Favicons and site_icons always set to false in about:config

Firefox now installs an optional service called the Mozilla Maintenance Service. This service allows Firefox to install updates without requiring you to click yes in the Windows User Account Control (UAC) dialog.

No thanks!

I have UAC enabled for a reason.

Oh so THAT'S why so much software wants to have it's own service installed nowdays. Just to bypass the UAC prompts. Unreal.

So now every software vendor makes their own service, so they don't have to count on the user authorizing whatever it is they feel like tampering with from then on.
