Ff page loading speed.
Hi, This question is not asked in a negative context.
I always use Ff and before that Netscape, never IE.
A couple of days ago on this forum in the " Software " thread someone recommended a new browser by the name of " Torch ".
I tried it and was amazed at the speed that pages loaded. I have one particular site I go to, a UK daily newspaper, that takes 10+ seconds to load and several seconds to reload. Yet the Torch browser loads the same page in about one second. I then tried the " Iron " browser and that replicates the Torch speed.
I removed Torch because I didn't like the layout.
So, my question is why does Ff take so long to load.
Again, not to be considered as a moan!

How long is to long to load?
A second or two or much longer?
Do you have extensions installed in Fx that handle security or page layout/style?
"Paranoia, the destroyer"
The offending add on was Ghostery.
I disabled all then added one at a time . Disabled it and then added the second and so on.
Adblock, Better Privacy and DNT didn't affect it at all.
But Ghostery added another six to seven seconds to the page loading.
Again, many thanks.

Hi GK, you got it in one.
I disabled ALL addon /extensions and Ff booted the offending newspaper in two seconds as opposed to ten plus seconds.
Over the years using Ff it always comes down to what we as users tack onto Ff.
I use Adblock,Ghostery,Better privacy and DNT.
I shall now play with each one of the above and ascertain which is causing the most slow down.

I was going to mention earlier that to do a more accurate comparison you'd have to use a clean install of FF with no add-ons installed as the other browsers you installed were also in that state.
Glad you found the culprit though.
