Re: I 'member when....

I remember when...

- Having to mark, wait for CC, and LOS pulls was required

- CC was an art form (catching a mob on patrol with ice trap, the perfect sheep and LOS)

- Having to grind normals to get enough rep to buy keys to get into heroic BC dungeons

- The amount of time I spent looking for nature resist gear for AQ

- Questing was difficult. Areas had tons of elite mobs, and quests that were designed for 2, 5, or even more

- Spending an hour trying to put together a heroic group

the thing i miss the most was the old wow server community. the old server communities were like these boards. you got to know ppl outside of your guild in dungeon groups and pvp.

+1

I miss this. I wish this was still around. One reason I like that one dungeon in WotLK (the last one). CC and LOS were key. At least at first; before everyone outgeared it.

Also, I remember lighting a cooking fire on top of an player and having them slowly burn to death.

I remember being able to remember people I played dungeons with, where if they ninja'd the individual would be chastised till they switched servers, and if they kept their name, would immediately have someone follow them to the new server to ensure that server was made aware. (Done in most extreme cases.) Being able to add a player to your friends list based off of playing with them and then grouping with them later and introduction to their friends made for an actual community. Public lashings helped keep players in check so that they knew the behavior was not acceptable.

Currently there is too much anonymity; which removed much of the consequences of being an asshat, and leading to a game which you only reach out to few in your guild and perhaps others while raiding if you don't LFR.

And AQ gate server event, which was never matched in epicness.

The problem with this now is the paid name change. You can ninja some big item and pay 25 dollars and your a brand new toon. I too miss the "server reputation" aspect of WoW. Not only that you could build a negative side if you were an asshat, you could built a really good rep if you were a skilled player. You were valued and wanted in raids.

Where was the first parachute you could use on your toon in the game?

I miss server reputation too, it was awesome to log in and start getting whispers right away "Hey man, we need you to tank H Shattered Halls have group full and ready" back when you could only run heroics once a day.

That was a sense of server community that is lost now.

If 2 60s were ganking in STV all you needed was maybe 5 level 40s and you could take em.
No global cooldown on mage's scorch and it was instant. (However I think this was a bug after one of the first few patches)
Pally's DI. lol good times
When epix were actually epic
The sleep dust that would drop from the air elementals in westfall
The warlock mount quest.. amg..
Summoning AV bosses
Countless warriors at 60 that never completed the questline to get zerker stance
All the old quest before cata
Keys and attunements
South shore PVP and XR PVP
Farming mithril.. that shit was no where
Upgrading tier 0 to tier .5

- farming shitloads of herbs for flasks and mana pots(Y HELO THAR DREAMFOIL).
- "befriending" Chinese farmers for deals on mana pots
- aq40 on vent, "why am i in combat?" --> "oh shit" --> "WTF"
- first time getting huhuran to enrage/beserk.

FUCK HUHURAN! That god damn moth. I swear i killed as many moths as possible IRL because my guild at the time was having bad luck with the nature resist. Fuck that just brought up some bad wipes with her lol. However, it made it all the sweeter when her ass went down.

- Farming the volcano in Un'goro for elemental fires for MC.
- Mind Controlling the casters in early LBRS for their buff prior to pulling Ragnaros.
- Seeing an Arcanite Reaper on a warrior and being terrified.
- Dire Maul tribute runs being a noteworthy task.
- Seeing 200+ alliance and horde gather for server first Thunderfury finale (was being made by my guild at the time!)
- Glowing Brightwood Staff.
- The awful days of Dishonorable Kills
- Faxmonkey and his amazing (at the time) frost mage videos
- Popping both Talisman of Ephereal Power AND Zandalarian Hero Charm at the same time. Then 1-shotting anyone with pyroblast.

I remember hitting 60 on my first toon in the EPL killing a dog. I shut down my computer and just went outside and walked around in th eyard for a while.
I remember having to go to different trainers to level professions including going into dungeons to find a trainer.
I remember having max level enchanting but not being able to enchant stuff for my other toons. And having to spam trade to make gold with enchanting. (I eventually started another account for an enchanter and still have it to this day.)
I remember that asshole in ravehill grave yard killing me all the time. I still hate you Mor'Ladim!

Heh, I used to wear Flarecore gear with an engineering flame reflector trinket. I reverse owned quite a few mages with it. Fun times.
