Re: [Hockey] Official 2013 Vancouver Canucks Thread Realistically, he's a better goalie than Schneider, but less consistent (particularly in the post-season). So I'm not surprised that he's playing well. I'm also not sad to see him go, if that's the ultimate outcome. -- "Moving your Tylenol to the low shelf in your medicine cabinet is not the way to prevent children from falling off a stool when reaching for the top shelf." | reply to Styvas I'm starting to wonder about even trading him now...........we've got no viable backup, unless another goalie is part of the trade.
Sure wouldn't hurt to keep them both to see how it goes for the 1st 2 weeks of the season. -- Sarcasm is the bodys natural defense against stupidity. |

Sure wouldn't hurt to keep them both to see how it goes for the 1st 2 weeks of the season. Did you hear Gillis this morning? When asked "on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being imminent trade where do you stand?"
Gillis said "Much closer to 1 than 10!" So Luongo could be here a while.
I was watching the Chicago Wolves play Abbotsford last weekend. Chicago's keeper was Matt Climie while Lack is out hurt. He looked pretty good. I don't see him on the Canucks' depth chart yet he had a Canucks logo on his helmet. Is he Canucks' property???

| reply to FaxCap Ya I watched that game too..........Climie was great in that game.
I seem to remember hearing that name in games before...at 29,he's no kid but if he can continue to play like that,Lack and him could be great backups. -- Sarcasm is the bodys natural defense against stupidity. |

LLLLLLUUUUUUOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

 | reply to Styvas The Canucks have locked up another piece to their blueline, signing Alex Edler to a six-year, $30 million contract extension.

All the current top four locked up until 2016.
Now you have to wonder about Ballard... buyout maybe? Wait until we see how Garrison meshes with the current group? Could Garrison be another Ballard, full of potential that never gets reached? -- Some hero's wear capes, mine wear combat boots. |

capdjqRIP my friendPremium join:2000-11-01 Coastie | The fans, who had booed liberally as the score mounted, greeted Luongo like a long-lost son, roaring their approval from the moment he doffed his baseball cap and plopped the mask on the top of his head until he sprinted to the net, reaching a top-end speed rarely glimpsed before.

capdjqRIP my friendPremium join:2000-11-01 Coastie | reply to Styvas Not a great Season opener for a couple of teams. The Montreal Canadiens did the torch thing and promptly lost to the Maple Leafs in a lack lustre game. The Los Angeles Kings handed out the Stanley Cup rings, passed the Cup around, shone the spotlight on the new banner in the Staples Center and then got slapped around by the Chicago Blackhawks. |

| reply to capdjq Trade Schneider and Luongo!
It's only 1 game and the D-MEN sure didn't help either goalie.
For some reason the Ducks own the Canucks here in B.C.
Schneider should start tonight against the OILERS..........this could get interesting. -- Sarcasm is the bodys natural defense against stupidity. |

| reply to Styvas On the way to the game I said to my lady, "I'm worried about Schneider. He didn't play well in Europe."
Little did I know.... :-(
My God....the 2nd Ducks goal....my grandmother could have stopped. Schneids looked very very nervous right from the opening faceoff.
Some things I noticed...
-Canucks sure miss those 5 starters out with injuries. -Defense did not look good. -The offence.....see above re injuries.
As for the Canucks' organization....wow...they did a hell of a good job welcoming the fans back.
Every seat had a $15 Canucks scarf draped over the back. We all got a free Budweiser. $1 hotdogs or nachos or pop 24 people picked out of the crowd got the jersey right off the Canucks player's back. Sweat, autograph and picture of the handshake The 50/50 draw was $147,000
Everything in the Canucks Store was 50% off. There are about 6 stores in the arena. The big one near our section had 3 jersies left at the end of the game. They had at least 300-400 when we looked before the game. As we walked out we passes 2 other stores and they only had a few left. I got one....it's a no player name Canucks official NHL products jersey for $70.
Two promo Canucks people would go all over the arena and pick out a row of seats. Everyone in that row got a jersey!!!
For those who didn't see it Sarah Ann McLachlan sang both national anthems
Other than the shit kicking by the Ducks it was a fun night.
