Luongo to start against Oilersquote: VANCOUVER - Vancouver head coach Alain Vigneault announced that Roberto Luongo will get the start when the Canucks host the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday night
Is Vigneault fucking stupid or what? What kind of a lame brain move is that and what kind of message does that send Schneider? If Oilers light Luongo up,then what...............unreal? Time for a new coach. |

It's not 1 game............it's a number of idiotic moves he's made over the years that have created this problem.
When your number 1 goalie gets bombed, you stick him right back in net to give him some confidence!
What happens if Luongo gets yanked tonight?
He has no clue how to rotate these guys. |

Uhhhh... he's been an NHL coach for how long? ...and you've been one for...??? |

It's not completely unheard of in the NHL to alternate starters when you play back to back games (Detroit's been doing it for years). Secondly they still want to trade Luongo? He kind of needs to play so the other teams can see if he's got the goods or not.
Not really a canucks fan but I do consider Schneider untested. He's been a backup/relief for a few years now. He's had some brilliant moments. It's when you play all the time and the league starts to figure you out, that's when you show you're great. I don't think he's played enough to be there yet. We'll see. |

Off to the shootout. Edmonton up 1 after the first shooters.
Hemsky puts it past Lou as the 2nd shooter, gets the win for the Oilers. |

It seems they're following the same template,as years past.
Start off fast ,get a 2-0 lead then sit back and miss every chance to put the game away.
Let Luongo give up an easy goal late in a period, then come out and miss more chances and watch Luongo give up another easy goal..........cue the OT and SO.

3rd year in a row Lougongo has gone to a shoot out in his seasonal debut and lost. Consistency is the key to the game. |

Shouldn't good teams be able to win most games if their goaltender can keep it to 2 goals? You don't always need a Hasek, Brodeur, or a Roy... If you have a good team all you need is an Osgood |

They are saying Schneider starts against the Flames on Wed night. As I understand it Luongo was going to play last night anyways. Gillis said on many back to back games Schneider and Luongo will share the games. FaxCap |

That does sound like a sales pitch. I've changed my thinking in the last 2 days.............I think dealing Luongo now would benefit Schneider and get rid of the distraction. I still feel more confident in him than I do watching Luongo, regardless of the bad start he had............he's a better goalie. You have to hold your breath with Luongo on every shot, cause you know an easy goal is coming. |

I was just going to post something about Kassian. All I can says is.... "Cody who?" If Kassian continues improving at this rate we'll have our own Cam Neely. He looks like he's going to be a big, strong and nasty power forward. FaxCap |

Playing in the AHL during the strike helped get him match ready. If he gets any better we might even trade him, like Neely. |

Canucks picked up their first win last night, in the skills competition nonetheless... Still blew a 2-0 lead. |

They've blown a ton of leads in the last 5 years...........I'll bet it was at least a dozen last year alone. It's their M O and how the coaches can't see that is beyond me? They played great last night ,BUT they were playing the Flames, who along with Columbus are probably the 2 worse teams in the league. Kassian looked awesome as did Schneider. We'll see how they do against the Ducks on Friday. |

FaxCap i told you guys that was a good trade when it was made...i know you likely weren't overly familiar with Kassian (as you are on the left coast), but he is a big body and a good player...still young too, so plenty of time for further growth. |

Canucks 5 Ducks 0
Schneider plays great gets the goose egg! He shuts out the same team that got him pulled from the nets on the Canucks home opener.

Ya that was a great game, they actually look like a team again. Schroeder and Kassian are getting better every game and Schneider looked great. Still 2 tough games coming up against the Sharks and Kings. |
