blocking Facebook applications ?????????? Is it possible to block only the Facebook applications, while giving only access to the wall using DSR 500n router ?????? |

Considering the DSR-500N is CONSUMER level equipment with not a whole lot of brains or knobs and switches, likely not.
Again, your best bet is to read through the provided manual for what options / features are available.

Check if FB applications connect to specific IP's or range of IP's. You may try to block those in firewall. |

Short answer: no.
Long answer: It doesn't have any layer-4 or above inspection capabilities. All it can look at is IP addresses and ports. It cannot look into an HTTP stream and find a host name. Even if it could, you're playing whack-a-mole hunting all the damned hostnames.
(And as most of the traffic will be via HTTPS, it's that much harder to block.) |
