[DSL] Frontier DSL dropping programs after extended periods

So my family and I had time warner for many years, but their disconnections just became to numerous. We switched to Frontier about a month ago, and I'm noticing a strange issue where a program will disconnect from the internet after a long period of time (4+ hours). Other programs connected for a shorter amount of time are just fine. Here is a partial log:

Not seeing anything of interest in there, but you may want to try changing your DNS servers to Google DNS, Level3 DNS or OpenDNS on one of your computers locally since other applications appear to remain connected.

Which program is it that is disconnecting?

Is the program idle at the time?

Do you have power save features for your nic turned off?

Did your computer go to sleep at the same time the program disconnected?

It looks like this is an SSL connection. I am probably wrong but I thought ssl connections could not be left open indefinitely and had to be renewed periodically? Every 6 hours comes to mind not sure why....

I suspect that Smith is probably right and switching to a better DNS server may help. Though I'm not sure how DNS servers would have an effect on an SSL connection unless it was only using the url and not the ip address.

The SSL connections are for the modem's CWMP daemon. I don't see any concern for that since it is normal to find logs like that from my own experience even with a working connection.

What are you looking at, xStealthx?

I see the DHCP lease renew, but that's 12 hours apart. Frontier's Netgear 7550 has that time limit set in the firmware under advanced and then Private LAN.

If that's not the issue, what program is disconnecting? If it uses TCP, it's entirely possible that a disconnection after 4 hours is some sort of a connection timeout. According to RFC 793, the sequence numbers for a connection are guaranteed to be unique for up to 4.55 hours, after which the Initial Sequence Number cycles.

I think knowing what the program is or at least which protocol it's using may give you the information necessary to fix it.

The program in question is Final Fantasy XI (MMO). I tend to leave it on overnight while I sleep, and every morning when I wake up lately its been disconnected. Power savings disabled, pc didn't sleep, just that program wants to disconnect. Nothing else has ever disconnected to this point.
