Re: Official Marvel Heroes Thread think of them basically as classes
26 heroes at launch = 26 classes
what distinguishes one guy of the class from another?
skins, gear, and talents
20 wolverines can each be very different
no differnt than 1000 warriors in d3 |

You can change uniforms though, just not sure about all the options. The initial pack purchase seems to get you alternate uniform options, but wondering how customizable this will eventually get. Seeing as how players are not able to change a character build, size, and other features I'm hoping the uniforms are highly customizable. I'm sure they will be, just doesn't seem to be much info atm. |

| Your appearance will only change from skins. Skins are complete uniform different visual for your toon. Similar to league of legends.
Gear does not change appearance.
Skill trees for each hero will be complex and varied.
Even if you have the same skin as another wolverine, your wolverine will be very different, and play different, based on your talents points. And have different usable skills. |
|
 | reply to TheThing Some skills available to your hero are based on your gear.
For example... Rhino boss will drop gear that gives you new abilities.
A wolverine who has the Rhino gear will be able to do things other wolverines can not |

 | Do I wish it was in the Diablo Universe instead of the Marvel Universe? YES
Are there problems that a beta will have? YES... but they will be fixed
I can't even ask you what you didn't like about it |

Now! No character customization through gear. Your toon will look the same from level 1 to endgame unless you are able to get a reskin. There is a combination of instanced zones and community zones, with the instanced branching off of the community ones. You turn in gear to level up your vendors. You don't get anything for the gear when you do this but vendor xp. Talent system is something similar to TL2, three tabs, each work differently and grant abilities/upgrade them. The game feels like it was created for children around 8 or so. No strategy, just run around and keep killing things. The lack of any gear strategy besides getting stats and the fact that you never change your appearance was a major turnoff for me. Hell, you don't even have different weapon looks. Not impressed, there is a forbes article that highlights some of this already. -- Goggalor: "Freedom of speech is not freedom of asshattery." |

 | reply to TheThing Thanks for the info. That forbes article makes it sound kind of sad. |

| The game is still in closed Beta, not even in open Beta.
It's going to change, and has tons of potential.
I think some of the skins/weapons gripes are purely a consequence of it being in the Marvel Universe.
I wouldn't count it out yet. Not with David Brevik running it. |

| reply to TheThing David even said, the most difficult decision they have been working on with the game is the skins/appearance issue.
He said they are currently on their 4th iteration of what it has been.
If you played DCUO you wil know that even there, the skins changes were MEH at best... all a consequence of a comic universe |
|
 | reply to TheThing I'm going to keep playing PoE for my fix on this style of game. |
