Re: [Cable] Peak hours SUPER slow! I've been seeing some speed issues lately too. Before the holidays I was consistently able to max out my connection. Right now I'm only getting (inconsistently I might add) 12 Mb on a 25Mb connection. |

| reply to Tx said by Tx:i think it's just the matter of paying the additional $$$ .... quiet honestly we all could get around no problem with a 2-5 meg connection so 5-10 is very good compared to a lot. 2-5 meg no way you cannot stream Netflix on that. That's like the darkages of TSI DSL service before they offered cable. Scary to think of even returning to such slow speeds. |

| reply to hybrid_r We have the same problem in the US where cable still sell 4Mbps in the rural America. This telco I am with offers 40/40 in LV but won't spare one byte of bandwidth in any rural area. How about a voip phone and try streaming on this 10/.500 ? A 5/5 would give me voip phone that actually works. The local cable does offer a business line bundled with phone $102 + cable + taxes..
Good luck to you. -- Mac: No windows, No Gates, Apple inside |

Teksavvy has asked me to do spend a lot of time producing data for them before they can open a ticket for me. I still don't have the ticket open days later. I'll keep you posted. |

decxPremium join:2002-06-07 Vancouver, BC | reply to hybrid_r It's getting worse now. It's 11pm and I can't reach 5Mb on a simple speedtest. Streaming via a Slingbox from Toronto is now unwatchable (endless stuttering) at decent quality settings. |

 | reply to hybrid_r Wow, almost 7 PM here and this is what I am getting. Terrible

 | reply to hybrid_r Hello all,
First of all I would like to address the side concern that was mentioned here. We at Teksavvy do not throttle connection, nor do we drop rates/profiles during certain times. I'm pretty sure most of you already know this, but I could be wrong there. And regardless it is worth stating.
With that said, if any of you have not already, please contact us in the direct forum here: »/forum/teksavdirect8
As mentioned there is quite a bit of testing we will request you to do so that we can open a ticket for you but there are complaints here from DSL, and Cable, ON, and BC. We need to get tickets open and get as many specifics as we can to work on getting this resolved for you all.
Thank you, Keith -- TSI Keith (E-Services) - TekSavvy Solutions Inc. Authorized TSI employee ( » TekSavvy FAQ »Official support in the forum ) |

 | Can anyone even imagine Rogers reaching out to customers like this? Teksavvy is AWESOME. |

 | reply to Xinef the sad part of that speedtest is the line that says your still "faster than 56 %" of canadian tests they have on record !!!!! |

Speedtest shows 17 Mbps down, but real-world performance is much worse; Netflix is having trouble streaming at 3 Mbps, for example. -- Developer: Tomato/MLPPP, Linux/MLPPP, etc »fixppp.org |

| reply to hybrid_r This was taken while my wife was watching Netflix... Doesn't appear to be systemic.

I've been watching 1080p you tube videos, Hulu+ and Netflix without issue... No trouble with ON cable right now from me. |

| reply to hybrid_r Speedtest just now:

I don't see any slowdowns at any hours of the day on my connection.
Most likely it is congestion issue on specific nodes / POIs.
Welcome to how Rogers and Bell and every other NA ISP sells their internet services; by oversubscribing it. |

dcorban join:2003-07-13 Newmarket, ON | reply to hybrid_r I have this same problem over the past week. It's not like suddenly thousands of users moved onto my node and are sucking up my downstream. It happens like clockwork every night. My download speed drops to 500k/s or less. It essentially renders my connection useless for watching TV shows. |

ReeG join:2012-02-27 North York, ON | reply to hybrid_r Hey guys, try resetting your modems and see if it does anything for you. I was getting under 10mbps and after a reset it's gone back up to over 30 |

It could be the difference of adding a few new cable customers to the node and it goes from being overloaded to extremely overloaded. |
