Game of Thrones is one of the most pirated TV shows last year. It's also one of the highest rated TV shows on cable.

Radiohead is one of the most successful bands of the last 20 years and yet they released their last album for free online and only made it optional to pay whatever you wanted. They made a ton of money off of it and sold out their concerts.

Times are changing.. Unfortunately we have to drag the entertainment industry kicking and screaming into the 21st century as the consumers of the future are no longer willing to be ripped off by the Producers of movies, music and TV. There was a time all we could do is sit back and take it up the butt.. But we no longer have to. HBO creating HBO Go is proof they're slowly moving the way we want them to and Netflix proved that if you offer content at a reasonable price people will pay (I subscribe). If you want to continue paying what you pay for Blu-rays and CD's then all the power to you, just don't bitch at me when I don't.

Slight problem with your analogy... If you go to a theatre and the movies sold out and you sneak in.. Taking a paying customers seat from them then yes you ripped off the theater... If you go and sit in the movie and there are 50 seats free then in reality you didn't steal anything at all and may have actually made the theater some money if you bought a drink.

Facts tend to lean in my favor... Us "pirates" spend more money in the entertainment/digital industry then those who don't.

Sounds to me like they need to upgrade their infrastructure then if it often isn't able to actually provide full service to all subscribers in that area.

As the internet world is supplied with bigger pipes, larger file sizes for legit and stolen video will get larger. This includes the video offerings for the MSO's as well to eventually provide 1080p and beyond (for 4k , 8k HDTV's) via IPTV. So I have no idea what kind of file sizes are traded on torrents and such, but I highly doubt its a fully uncompressed Blu-Ray movie.

Nah, I dont follow tech news at all. I used an example of BPON to use actual numbers , the concept applies to ANY architecture, whether its GPON, XPON, DSL or cable.

So what you are implying is that people that pirate do so to avoid not paying to watch something. Can you provide proof that those same people would pay to watch the same stuff if it were 100% impossible to get through other means thus making it erode their TV revenues?

Wrong, not only does piracy cause lost TV revenue for Verizon, but those that STEAL obscene amounts of daily data puts them at risk for oversubscription of their CO PON cards, causing slowdowns for everyone.
