If you are not subscribing to wireless the chance are you will get a bulk standard modem that does not require any work. I dont know what equipment they use in your area unfortunately.

When i called into tier 3 support for NYC (which is the great upstate dudes and dudettes) they put me in touch with a department that shipped me a docsis 3 Arris Gateway, which has worked flawlessly. I couldn't access the diagnostics, which i understand.

It's ok to say, 'I don't know'. It's even better when someone takes the time to explain what you, 'don't know'.

I have a SBG6580 here in the DFW area and I believe they have the SB6141 available for people that want a modem without the wireless features.

Also you can access the modems in North Texas by using the password found online for the modem you have from the manufacturor.

Follow-up-- I was provided a ubee DVW3201 modem for lease and wound up accessing the modem settings myself to disable the WiFi and bridge the modem as the dolt TWC technician sent for the installation didn't have any clue how to accomplish.

Speaking of which, I discovered two days later this technician had failed to close the cable box attached to my house and left wires exposed.

I called yesterday to report and a service call was set up for today. I was given a time window of 11am-12pm for this service call and as of almost 2pm-- no sign of TWC.

I had been advised TWC was absolutely deplorable in its customer service and, unfortunately, my initial days as one of its customers confirm this. My prior experience with Brighthouse for my Internet was a pleasure by comparison.

I had been giving thought to transitioning the family's TV service to TWC from Dish Network (after 16 years as a Dish customer). TWC has now been ruled out from consideration.
