Two Navigator Bugs on SA-8300HDC box (Build ODN 5.2.09)

TWC Navigator Bugs on SA-8300HDC-Build ODN 5.2.09

January 13, 2012

1.) There is a search and scroll slow down, which happens in 30-40 day cycles. A cold reboot of the box resolves this issue. However, in the next 30-40 day cycle, the slowness repeats again.

2.) When setting up a manual recording, by hitting the REC button on the remote control. should a customer choose either the STOP AND SAVE or STOP AND DELETE options, the recording will delete, but the Channel bar will remain on the screen, until:

The C or Exit Button is pressed or
The customer changes channels

Issue #1- (The 30-40 Day search and scroll slow down.) Always has occurred since the Black Guide roll-out. A cold reboot produces a temporary fix.

Issue#2: (Channel Banner Bar gets stuck when trying to stop a recording in progress.) Appears to remain after a cold reboot of the box, but before the ODN5.2.09 build, did not seem to be a problem. In Milwaukee Wisconsin, we had a Service Pack update approximately in October and the second issue has occurred since than.

Important-Issue #2 does NOT occur if a recording has completed and the Stop and Save, or Stop and Delete Menu choices are used. The only time a customer gets the “stuck” channel bar is when he/she stops a show that is in the process of being recorded.

(I sent this to the TWC DTT Forum, but wanted to share this with you as well to see if others may be having the same circumstance with this box model/build.)

Update: More information on the stuck channel banner when stopping a recording in progress on the SA-8300HDC.

The stuck channel banner happens when you see the screen saying, "You have a scheduled recording already in progress"

When you press the Stop and Save Button:

Stop and Save: Stops the recording, saves the recording. Information Channel banner gets stuck.

Stop and Delete: Stops and Deletes the recording. Channel banner gets stuck.

In testing this more, the only time that this issue happens is when the user gets the "You Have a Recording Already in Progress Prompt."

If users do not see the "You have a recording already in progress prompt.", the stop and save, stop/delete prompt works normally.
