[Internet] This is ridiculous..ubee sucks

So basically im having an issue with brighthouse and it is frustrating me..so im having wifi issues..every device sees my router every device is within 30 ft max distance..they all see it as either 60%-100% ..so it has nothing to do with distance..my router has been reset a ton of times and factory reset..i only have wpa/wpa2 security no firewall no parental stuff on..my security on my laptop on both laptops is microsoft security essentials..i have tried googles opendns .. i have deleted the connection on all devices reset the router and reconnected them..i have tried moving the router to different places..*just naming all the stuff ive done..* and the issue still persists and here the problem is..every device connects but it takes forever to ping stuff and forever to load sites in comparison to my tablet ..my tablet is the only device that can utilize the full speed of the wifi i usually get 11 or 12 mb down on my tablet websites * i always load in desktop mode* load in the snap of a finger on my tablet..i can sit my tablet right next to my computer and do the exact same thing way faster on my tablet if i go on speedtest.net or speedtest.bhn.net on any device in the house and on my tablet? they either dont load or take like 5min to load in comparison to my tablet which loads them instantly..they will ping for like 2 or 3 minutes..where as my tablet runs through the whole speedtest in a minute on my laptops and ps3 the website takes like 5 or 10 minutes and thats if if completes without failure..a bunch of times i get dns errors even when the connection says 80%..even when i stick with brighthouse dns or switch to googles..brighthouse acts like they have no idea whats happening even though ive read hundreds of threads of people having the same problem and how brighthouse came out and swapped the router 4 and 5 times and they still have the problem *i dont want to go through all that*..basically if this can be fixed without getting a new router i would like to know if anyone had any idea whats going on! thank you oh and we've done the ip flush and a bunch of other things but it would be nice to get someone with new ideas or something to help

Let's first start by you opening a direct forums thread and simply place your IP address there so I can review everything.

Second I need to know if everything is within 30 feet of the modem (essentially in the same room) why aren't you hard wiring this stuff and what is the performance when you connect via wired.

Ping? Ping what? Where?

Once I get all this I'll be in touch and we will take it from there.

And while we're at it I will also need the following information..you can post it here.

Make and model of every piece of wireless equipment including the tablet. For the non tablet devices I will also need the wireless adapter chipset mfr and driver revision and also include the operating system and revision for each device other than the tablet as well if applicable.

Since you have MSE running on the laptops did you allow MSE to turn your firewall on? If so turn it OFF, you are behind the router and its own firewall you don't need it.

Re: [Internet] This is ridiculous..ubee sucks

how do i place my ip in the direct forums u might have to walk me through a few things, and also because the router is in another room and you know my laptops are portable i cant wire my tablet and phones, and my xbox is in another room so is my ps3. i havent tested wired performance i thought i had an extra cable to test but i was mistaken..also i pinged my router i did google and when i did google..and its weird when im on my laptop like now i get a little big of internet within 30 ft as soon as say i walk 32 feet away the dns errors begin so i have to sit within a certain distance always.

That modem is very old and very bad. That FW was developed about 3 years ago and the Wi-Fi performance is terrible.
I would suggest asking Brighthouse for a stand-alone modem and get either a Netgear 802.11n HP router or a Linksys Router.
Ubee is owned by Foxconn and they are terrible. The support is awful and they are losing a lot of business with companies in the US. I won't trust their device at all.

While you are entitled to your opinion the information you have posted is not correct on all fronts.

All fronts? Perhaps you'd like to break it down a bit.
False: Ubee owned by Foxconn. Ubee is a stand-alone company, used to be known as Ambit.
Unknown/hard to prove: support is awful - venture to say that most people would never contact Ubee since the products are usually provided by an MSO - you call them and they replace the problem product.
Unknown/hard to prove: losing business with US companies.
Age of firmware.

Lots of circumstantial evidence to support "wi-fi performance is terrible..." and "ask Brighthouse for a stand-alone modem and ... get your own router..." - or at least put the Ubee into bridge mode...

#1 you are correct...

#2 they do not support end users. They sell direct to MSO (not retail) and as such support should be obtained through your provider ONLY not from Ubee. If you go to their support page you will see each provider broken down along with contact #'s...notice that I am the contact for Bright House Networks (And I hear from you folks all the time from that site)

#3 You'll have to trust me on this one (I think I'm good for it )

#4 I work with their firmware on a daily basis. In fact few people here have as much experience with Ubee than I do in case nobody noticed. Firmware updates are regular and the most recent of which is quite good to be honest with you.

What you see in the way of threads is no different than any other modem manufacturer. That's not to say there haven't been a few interesting moments....there have been (just like Moto, Arris, Toshiba, RCA and list goes on) ...all things considered however the Ubee is a stable, solid performing and strong in the wifi arena device.

Now there will be a few that get it in their heads that their wifi issues or gaming issues or whatever is the fault of the modem. Having resolved thousands of those folks issues...I can tell you that in very very rare cases is it the modem at all....very rare. Most of the time especially wifi issues it is the customer expecting more from wifi than it was designed or intended to deliver or their wifi hostile environment or plain and simple lack of proper customer equipment configuration....same goes for the gaming issues.

Do you see a lot of people recommending bridging the modems...yep and thats because if you fall out of being regular user and need special configs or want super duper powerful wifi/guest wifi, or just have this need to always be messin with things....bridge the thing and buy your own high quality router.
