C7 Corvette Stingray

The latest generation 2014 Corvette (yes, it's a Stingray) is public. Dare we dream for a Gran Sport?

Is that a ...Scion?
You're not wearing baseball caps backwards or at other strange angles are you?

Ah well to each his own.

As for the Corvette, not my thing, the gaps look uneven and it screams plastic parts and rubber gap filler - typical GM.

I much prefer the look of the Subaru variant. The interior is less youth oriented.

Plus I'd wait for the turbo version which will no doubt come a year or two down the line.

Now here's a Corvette...

All joking aside, that C7 looks awesome... Cool they revived the Stingray name... but should have spelled it Sting Ray as a tribute to the C2 (2nd gen Corvette) and not Stingray which is the spelling used by the C3 (3rd gen)...

The Corvette Grand Sport was the only car to give the Cobra a run for it's money on the track in the 1960's...

Thanks for sharing...

Your picture shows off the best angle of the new C7 Vette, cause the rear profile screams "Hi! I look like an upgraded Camaro" which to me the Corvette shouldn't even *suggest* a familal resemblance to "lesser" Chevy products.

I think that a Corvette should stand out there like a beacon on its own, but that's just me.

don't worry though, peterboro says it will buff out.

one vehicle that has my eye is the new Genesis Sedan.

sneak peak (official views tomorrow):

Next summer I'm getting an early Lotus Esprit. They're dirt cheap and not too many around or a Volvo P1800 if I can get a rust free one. If I could I'd get an Renault R5 Turbo but they're all in the US, haven't seen street legal ones in Canada.

I got an older GT-R last summer but the insurance got yanked when they found out it was right hand drive.

Thats some eye candy, if i dare say they stole some styling cues from Ferrari with the vents and lines. I like the view from a back quarter with the sill and door tapering off nicely to enhance the width at the rear wheel. Its a huge improvement in looks over the C5. Looking forward to seeing the Z51.

Yep, I walked right by the new vette early this morning when I was doing some work for a competitor at the show. Definitely droolworthy, and no, security didn't allow me to take pictures!!

There's quite a few early Volvos arround HRM and some of them are P1800s which attend our local car shows and cruise ins during the summer....

I really like the older Volvo sedans...

Here's some photos of these gems I snapped at our local car shows...

I once owned a '65 Fiat 124 Spyder two- seater and soon regretted the fact that it was a two-seater. That's why I never considered buying a Corvette. My Mustang GT is not exactly a roomy vehicle either, anyone over 5'10 in the front or 5'8 in the back would feel cramped, but it does allow me to carry 3 passengers which I do on occasion.

Volvo had an assembly plant in Halifax between 1963 and 1998.

Lakeside actually... but you are correct...

Halifax police actually used a Volvo as a patrol car but sadly it did not standup compared to the Dodges, Fords and Chevys of the time...

I believe it's a 1968 Volvo P1800. Kind of like what Simon Templar (Roger Moore) drove in the old show "The Saint"...

It's a very nice car...

I also like the Datsun (Nissan) 240Z/260Z cars of the early 1970's... A lot of hot rodders replace the Datsun I6 with a small block Chevy or Ford. Apparently the V8 is lighter and tougher then the Datsun I6...

Two of these V* Datsuns made an appearance at our local show in September 2012...

Thats a P1800. I almost bought one about 6 years ago but buddy repaired the rockers with fiberglass so who knows how much rust there really was.

I ended up with a 1974 BMW 2002 Inka.

I'll take this over a vet any day.

On the other hand I'd take a Pantera over any of those cars

A 1972 BMW 2002 makes appearances at our local events... I have a photo from one of the shows in 2012....

I'll post the photo in a sec...

I don't recall seeing any Ford Panteras but I do have a 1/18th diecast of one... Does that count? LOL

A friend of mine owns one of those newer Ford GT's that were a tribute to the old Ford GT40's of the 1960's....

I bought one the second year they were out. Blazing speed zero to 60 or 100 but the car is a bit rough above 140 miles per hour.
