CT - Hotspot Now Live

This weekend (1/12/13) the Cox WiFi hotspots installed on their lines went live. There are several hundred and they will soon join the Northeast group of cable companies (Comcast, TW, others) sharing the 50,000 nodes already installed. On the busy streets where I have seen them they are just 400 feet apart. That's an awful lot of hardware if they decide to push out into residential streets. Here's a map showing current installations:

The Berlin Turnpike is lit up, and while its nice its also a pain. I canceled my SiriusXM subscription in the car and now stream it to my radio via Bluetooth.

Now when I am driving down the berlin Turnpike it connects to these new Cox Hotspots, which is cool, but when the Cox signal gets low as I am driving I get audio drop outs and sometimes I even need to reconnect my player.

So for now I have set my phone to forget the Cox network so my music is not constantly going up and down as I drive down the Berlin Turnpike.
