archonmk posted : So I made an update to my firmware but the same thing happens again. I don't think that it has anything to do with the wireless router because they worked before in a different setup. The network is relatively large 100+ computers but I don't think it's a congestion problem. Any suggestions would be welcomed!!

If so, is the connection from the 192.168.1.1 RV042 going
into the WAN port or LAN port of the other RV042s? If the WAN ports, you're introducing a double NAT situation
and those are not good, especially for types that aren't network savvy.

Dumb question though, what particular need or requirement drove you to need to split your network into these
4 subnets anyways? I'd look into the rest of the RV series of devices, or an actual managed or smart switch,
and see if there's one that'll let you ditch the other gear and set up real VLANs.

My 00000010bits.

Regards

clarknova posted : If there was a problem at the gateway it would affect all of your connected hosts. The fact that you are having problems with hosts on just one of three routers tells you that there is an issue with that router, or at the limit, the gateway's relationship with that router.

I too would use a multi-LAN router like pfsense or m0n0wall in a setup like this. Even (some versions of) Tomato support vlans and could handle all three of your LANs on a shared internet connection. It's the sensible way to set it up, but if you don't have the hardware to do it, then I guess you make do. There's no reason your 4-router solution shouldn't work, assuming all four routers are in good working condition and functioning correctly.
--
db

tomdlgns posted : i would consider installing pfsense on an old computer with a few NICs. you can do excatly what you want with 1 router/firewall (pfsense) and you wouldn't need the additional devices.

also, you can manage everything from 1 webGUI/IP address. right now, you have 4 devices you have the option to connect into. 3 of them being the routers you are trying to get working. i realize you already have the hardware and almost 100% operational, just giving you a suggestion. you may benefit (in the long run) from being able to manage everything in 1 location.
