Boss302_1970 posted : that's pretty high latency, here its about 40-50 ms. CenturyLink doesn't seem to care about much as long as you pay the bill. good luck

anon posted : Hi, i'm a "forced" centurylink customer you could say (no other options in my area) and for the past year ive had the same occurring problem that I cant seem to get fixed and its one that renders my entire household frustrated beyond belief.

As for the problem its very very strange. I have about 4 devices in the house one being my desktop pc which is hardwired, two laptops, and a xbox. Now we only have a 3mb connection because I live in the middle of nowhere and I dont have the option to get a better one but I can deal with 3 its never really been an issue until about a year ago. We had the zyxel model modem/router which was stacked full of issues so we were sent one of the new westell 7500's. That modem was fine for a while but randomly out of the blue this issue would occur where speeds would be normal, a speedtest would show an average of 2.7-3 mb but the latency was AWFUL. I would get 200ms responses back but still have an optimal download speed. At first I thought it was just traffic causing it until the problem lasted for about 3 weeks straight. Any online game that I would connect to whether it be through a host, or directly to a server would be running on an awful 100-200 ms ping no matter how close the server was to me. Servers that I could connect to used to run about 60-80 ping no matter how many people and devices were running at that time were now giving me 100-200ms latencies which drove me insane. When I called tech support the only response they would give me is "if it does not go above 300ms we will not fix it." So through many frustrating attempts at trying to get them to help me, they eventually sent me a new westell 7500 and it solved the problem instantly, for about 3 months and then it started all over again and I had to go through the constant trouble of contacting support over and over until I could receive a new modem to fix my problem. I'm on my 4th westell 7500 and once again the problem is occurring and im almost ready to pull my hair out. Has anyone else had this problem and or know a fix to it? I've been through just about every form of troubleshooting and none has been able to help. Any help would be very much appreciated because we have no other options other than a 3mb connection through century link and were all getting tired of it
