The Elder Scrolls Online is an upcoming massively multiplayer role-playing video game developed by ZeniMax Online Studios, to be released in 2013. It is a part of The Elder Scrolls video game franchise, of which it is the first open-ended multiplayer installment.
- 3 factions: Daggerfall Covenant, Ebonheart Pact, Aldemri Dominion - 9 Races - You can become a vampire or werewolf - Only 1 Server! - Won't be a laundry list quest system
Reasons to be Interested: Taken from Ten Ton Hammer
1. Character Classes - TESO will be somewhat more restrictive than previous Elder Scrolls games. It will use set classes that come with unique skill sets, like special attacks, magic and other powers, and will level up by gaining experience rather than by skill-usage. But these classes will not be gear-restricted. There's no reason your character can't swing a tiny dagger while wearing full plate armor, or pair a mighty two-hander battleaxe with fire spells. Whether you'd actually want to do these things is debatable, but that decision is yours to make. Your class is a jumping-off point rather than a career commitment.
2. Dynamic Combat - Dynamic combat is featured in a number of newer games - Guild Wars 2, for example. It relies on positioning and facing. You need to keep your enemy in front of you, within the arc of your attacks, and you must react to your enemy's attacks to block or dodge. Combat is fluid and natural-feeling, far more realistic than tab-selecting your target and hammering on the number keys to deal damage.

The only MMO's I am excited about right now are Firefall (i've played it and it has promise) and Star Citizen (pretty much only because of the IP, and execution could be fubar'd). -- Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. |

 | reply to I AM Sorta with Kris on this one. I would love to see this one be awesome, I love Skyrim, but if they just make another crappy MMO with an Elder Scrolls title thrown on it....
I will definitely follow this and I'm very interested to see how it comes along, but I am trying not to get too terribly excited about it yet. |

 | reply to I AM I would love to have another MMO to mess around with.. I've gotten my wife hooked on Skyrim.. I'm sure we could team up in the MMO (which is something she has asked me multiple times.. if we could multi-player skyrim).
However if it is going to be a Pay-Per-Month, we will not be able to play..
i am worried about the one server setup at the moment.. That is going to be one large amount of data back and forth on a server.
Either way i'm going to be keeping an eye on it. I hope it does well. -- Aelingil: I need to waste my time, my clients time and another techs time, just to fix a problem with you server & filters? Tech Joseph: Yes, you are correct.

 | reply to I AM I am just sick of fantasy-based MMO's. We need a solid Sci Fi MMO. And I don't mean stuck in a ship the whole time. I was hoping SWTOR was going to fill the void but didn't. |

Also, my days of paying a monthly fee for a game are over with. If a new MMO comes out that charges monthly, I simply will not play it. |

Small crowd, small money. It'd be hot for about as long as SWTOR. Most people that are into wild west are like in their 60's.
I'd try it, though. Remember the Asian MMO that was suppose to come out years ago called Priest? It was a wild west/zombie type MMO I think. |

Either way i'm going to be keeping an eye on it. I hope it does well. It's called MEGASERVER
but its all smoke and mirrors
to the public its supposed to be perceived as ONE server...
however its actually several servers that intelligently place you into a SHARD (open world) that's most relevant to you
where your guild is, where your friends are, etc...
want a true ONE SERVER MMO, that's called EVE online
2000 person ship battle and server crashes... yeah its got that |

I'm digging the western style MMO idea. If you could roll/dodge and fire from your knees with revolvers or lever action rifle, that shit would be cool! -- Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not. ~ Thomas Jefferson |

| WoW and the like feel very flat after tera and gw2
elder scrolls online play style is more like Tera... gaming is heading towards Tera play style
elder scrolls plays like Tera, if you move your mouse you look in the direction your mouse moves to |

I'll keep my eye on it. If it marries GW2's dynamic world with a more dynamic combat system like Tera and has a decent Elder Scrolls feel, I'm game. But I'm with everyone else: I won't pay a monthly charge. No reason to buy the cow when GW2 gives good AAA MMO milk for free.
I'd play a Western MMO. RDR was my game of whatever year it came out. I loved it. |

 | reply to facepalm A wild west game would be fun but it would have to have more than just the western cowboy element. It would need a twist to survive in this saturated market. |

| said by Jobbie:Wild Wild West DayZ Like cowboys vs zombies? Maybe even some bad ass indians head-shotting zombies with arrows? I'd play that. Perhaps make it a 3 way faction game. Make the zombies a little intelligent. And have the cowbros and indians fight the zombie faction whilst fighting over land control. |

| reply to Phantasee One of the instances can be a casino where zombies and cowboys are attacking the indian bosses in the casino. Then when you beat the casino instance you unlock and slot machine mini game and dancing girls.
And the loot can be like a feather headpiece and some buffalo mount with an M. Bison license plate on it's ass. The music in the instance can be Rage Against the Machine since he's a pissed off indian anyway. |
