Yeah, rooting isn't exactly easy, but once it's rooted making it pingable is.

Also, remember, rooting your modem invalidates your warranty. So, I would imagine, if ATT finds out, they charge you to replace the modem, since they will most certainly blame any failure on that, even if it has nothing to do with it.

Everything worked up til the login

When I telnet, I get to the login and type "admin"

However, I can't enter a password. I type and nothing appears.

Is it me, telnet or has this been disabled?

It's not SUPPOSED to echo anything for the password! Type your password and hit [enter]...

The password was the device access code.

Okay let's see if it worked.

It is working. The line monitor is recording the pings.
