PinPremium join:2002-06-19 The Dungeon | [F@H] Folding Free Cycle So I am sitting here looking at computer equipment that I need to throw away, but I am having a hard time doing it. Then I thought about my wife's Free Cycle activities and I thought I might give it a go here.
People here seem to be saving up for things that maybe I am throwing away or not using. I am currently looking at a core 2 duo 2.4 that I probably will not put into another motherboard sitting on top of a AMD64 cpu that I will probably not use.
So I thought about starting a thread for people to list items that maybe other folders need to get them going again or started folding in the first place. I would ask that recipients pay for shipping if someone gives them a computer part for free ( only seems fair ) or agreed upon free/free.
Anyway, thought I would put it out there for myself and anyone else to participate.
In the coming days, I will try to start posting a few lists of items I need to get rid of, but as a teaser I know I have a box of case fans, some cpu heatsink fans, some small hard drives, some smaller power supplies, older memory, older cpu's, and a case of CD-Rom drives that are otherwise going to the dump. If someone here could use them, then I would rather you put them to use for a few dollars in shipping.
Not sure how to manage it, if the "I need a" and the "I have a" should be in the same tread; but I thought I would throw the idea out there.

| reply to Pin Good thing you two are doing. I'd join you two but what I have isn't worth it (old DFI Lanparty socket 939 board, processor, and RAM) and it would be a while before I could budget shipping it since I don't even have static bags. I also have an old 7950GT video card. It's a shame they just sit here, in their day, they were all the cat's meow (I'm the opposite of an early adopter) in their day. I even have a pretty nice cooler on that system (Thermalright XP-120 with panaflo). -- Join Teams Helix and Discovery. Rest in Peace, Leonard David Smith, my best friend, you are missed badly! I'm building a computer for my mother from some parts of around that vintage, not for folding though, that should be plenty of power for web surfing and email. -- Rule #62: Don't take yourself so damn seriously! | | signmeuptooThank you YankeesPremium join:2001-11-22 NanoParticle kudos:4 Reviews:

| Actually, it WAS getting intolerably slow with surfing the web. But I don't want to argue here. Indeed, wouldn't be good for folding, but for a base system, if made from free used parts, it's worth that much. But not worth spending money since you can do much better for a couple hundred dollars.
I don't know if it still works or if ESD has gotten to it. Maybe in a few months I'll get some anti static bags and boxes when I can afford them and find a good home for it all. -- Join Teams Helix and Discovery.
