 | [Internet] Only Ethernet port 1 works in Palm Harbor I have a Belkin 4 port wireless router plugged into Ethernet port 1 on my Ubee DVW3201B. Off of my Belkin I have both hard wire connections and wireless connections working fine.
I would like to use the remaining 3 ethernet ports directly out of the 3201. Unfortunately when I run a hard cable into any of the 3 remaining ports I can get no connection. I called tech support and they said there was no configuration setting that enables or disabled the ports on the 3201 and that they are "plug and play".
They said something about "bridging the router" - I have no idea what they are talking about.
I do not want to loos my current connectively through the Belkin -- I want to also use ports 2 through 4 on the 3201.
Any ideas? |

1 edit | Usually when only 1 Ethernet Port is working and the rest are not working , it means that its highly possible that your modem/router combo is already in Bridge Mode (meaning it just functions as a cable modem and disabled the router portion of the device) Alot of us prefer our modems be set into bridge mode to avoid "Double NAT" and we can configure our ports, set DMZ, Set Local IP Assignment and configure using our OWN Router to better manage things Please post in the direct forums and include your IP address so BHN staff can see what your setup is » Bright House Networks Direct -- Bakersfield Region Taft CA Brighthouse Customer Since 2003 |

If you need additional ethernet ports simply purchase an inexpensive switch and hang it off the Belkin. Sorry for the misinformation from the rep but there are settings you as the user can change. Login into the modem with the default user id and you will see all the available settings...but you must decide...do you want the modem to be your router or do you want to use Belkin...not both unless you want to take a few networking classes. -- ~All truth goes through three phases. | Yep -- that's what I finally figured out. It's either or. Once you plug the Belkin router into one of the Ubee ports the other Ubee ports are disabled.
Thanks to all. |
