(from Wikipedia) "a patent license is required for all manufacturers or developers of AAC codecs. For this reason free and open source software implementations such as FFmpeg and FAAC may be distributed in source form only, in order to avoid patent infringement."
The shoutcast DNA plugin for Shoutcast streams, and the Edcast standalone encoder for Icecast streams, are excellent MP3 encoders; but you may have to use a Linux source-code version - or paid software - encoder for AAC streams. -- Original account from 2000 - given up in protest (I don't believe in 'Political Correctness') - but DSLR is STILL my home page... |
