 | [Other] Constant drops from cable modem So I have been having this issue for the past 5 months where my cable will go out. I recently added a router to my barn through a hardwire when this started occuring. both are e1200 routers and work great. I have had my modem for a few years which is a linksys modem and had no issues. I cannot simply just power cycle the modem when it goes out i have to actually unscrew the coax and wait a couple minutes. sometimes i have to do this once a day. I was about to purchase a new modem when i talked to a couple friends of mine. both are having the same issue. all three of us purchased our own modems and all have been having the issue arrise in the past 5 months... Is there something that has changed on charters end to cause these constant drops? Everytime i call i get the same run around... any ideas on my next step would be greatly appreciated!

Under the new price plans a modem is provided, if you're in a position to consider that. |

 | reply to charguy27 charguy can you post a screenshot of you modem levels from you GUI. ( type 192.168.100.1 ) also if you have a VOM can you see if you have voltage on the center conductor of the cable feeding the modem? |

 | reply to charguy27 I recently had a similar problem. Turns out Charter's outside coax had dry-rotted and was filling up with water. Worth checking into. -- Always listen to experts. They'll tell you what can't be done, and why. Then do it.
