Another heat pump question

I've been told that in real cold conditions it's normal for the coils on the outside unit to ice up until the defrost part kicks in.

My question is,would it hurt to slowly run cold water down the coils to help de-ice it ?
It is a heat pump,if I didn't mention it.

Most likely it would just make the icing worse.
