Greenwich, CT | Air compressors Has anyone switched from a direct drive to a belt driven compressor but switching it off from the compressor? I've been thinking about doing this but I don't know if my mounting plate is big enough as seen here

I just bolted a larger plate on the old one. Actually, i welded it on 
Are you thinking aof buying a new motor and pump? That gets expensive, more than a new compressor.

Greenwich, CT | well I already have the motor I would just need a pump, however it's not a two stage, but I'm sure it would run with less noise then my current. |

Stone Mountain, GA | What motor do you have? It cant be the one on there as the motor probably has no usable output shaft.
You don't need a 2 stage unless you plan on running over 125 PSI.
Finding a pump cheap will be the biggest issue. Then calculating the right belt and pulley sizes, new plumbing and mounting everything.
