I've got a WU on a machine that is turned off overnight and on weekends. It's expected time of completion is over 6 days, which translates to over 3 weeks given the downtime on this machine.
Normally that would be no problem since these big WUs usually have pretty late timeout and expiration dates, but this one has an expiration date of ... a little over 3 weeks.
So, there's a good chance that it will reach the expiration date before it's finished.
Should I just dump this now and hope I get a smaller WU?

I would say dump. I would not risk a bad or old WU being on my Laptop.
