Squeaky wood stove doorWhat kind of lube should I use for the door latch/handle on a wood stove. I assume I wouldn't want to use normal oil because it would burn. Graphite powder? Something else? TIA |

Graphite also burns.
I'd go to the auto parts store and look for some high temp grease.

I've lived in homes with wood stoves for about 30 years. The handles always make that metal-on-metal squeal when opening and closing and I've just come to accept that as normal operation. If indeed there is some type of lubricant to make the squeal go away, I'd be interesting in hearing about it. |

I don't think graphite will burn at the temperatures normally present in the outside sections of the door. Another option would be solid molybdenum disulfide (common ingredient in high pressure grease) but I have no idea where to obtain solid MoS2.
I have a feeling that high temp grease would make a rather unpleasant smell, so I would stay away from that. |

I have a similar wood stove and I use the graphite powder. Works fine. |

A silicone oil would probably work well. |

Your stove looks a lot like mine, a Lennox Country C210. If that is the model, the installation guide specifically mentions you should be using dry graphite as a lubricant for the door handle and hinges. |
