| Land Rover----Range Rover---Anyone Have Experience With these SUVs? I have been browsing want ads looking for cheap 4 wheel drives and it seems that they are dirt cheap for older models. »treasure.craigslist.org/ctd/3521752666.html »treasure.craigslist.org/cto/3550648105.html »treasure.craigslist.org/ctd/3504819352.html
Are they a huge headache to repair? Are they junk? Bodies are rust free down here and if I got a year or 2 and 10--20000 miles out of one without severe problems I'd buy one and drive it back to Ontario in the spring. I like the yellow one but the second one only has 80000 miles. |

 | reply to Rifleman They're usually rated dead last in reliability reports, or very close to last. |

Hence the "dirt cheap" prices. |

| reply to Rifleman Well if it runs for a couple of months, its a break even. First major repair and your looking at more than purchase price as good luck find parts for a SUV that was owned by bwm for only 6 years ( 1994-2000 ) or any one that has a clue how to work on them |

| reply to Rifleman There is one user here who has had extensive experience working on them. I can't remember who at the moment.
I wouldn't touch one unless I got it for free and had plans (plus free parts) to do a complete drivetrain swap from a more reliable brand.
I'd rather have a Chevette Diesel.

 | reply to Rifleman I have been looking online and they are loved or hated. Seems to be a list of common problems and expensive fixes. If I can find one for 1000--1500 I may grab it and take my chances. I want it for off road use more than daily driving. |
