Re: [Weather] We Have A Snow Event

We had a terrible ride up to Blue Mountain tonight. Ran into the closure on 24, and had to do a very wide detour which took us through some very bad weather. We're here now, and already enjoying some beers. Hoping to get a ton of snow overnight for some serious snowboarding tomorrow.

Given how little it seems to take to get them to close roads these days, I don`t blame them.

Based on what I am seeing in those photos, I would call that a typical snowy day with some wind added into the mix. There isn`t even any snow banks along the side of the road to help give the snow some good lift.

Just because conditions look like a typical snowy day at the specific location where that camera is located does not mean that conditions aren't unsafe a few kilometers up the road.

Driving on a closed road is a major HTA infraction, in case anyone cares. [deleted]

That truck in the second photo ignored the road closed sign and drove on through - the biggest issue with drivers is that they feel that the laws only apply to other people, not them.

No, he didn't. The sign at the bottom of the picture is the Road Closed sign. Beyond that, the road is closed. He turned around.

Bruce County roads were never closed. Bruce County road report here. Roads are bad.

Complete non-event here. Was out doing some shopping and not only is there no snow, it's not even all that cold. Just cold enough for some rum and hot cider.

Road conditions were bad on the outskirts of Ottawa yesterday and the 417 was closed from Walkley Road to Hawkesbury. Today it's way too cold for snow.

Had a bit of a scare coming back from Hamilton yesterday. Had to go to a home on Limeridge Road in the afternoon and by the time I was ready to go at 5:30PM it was dark, snowy and I was cursing up a blue streak because I had washed the car that morning

Managed to get the car doors open and get out of there, but it wasn't until I passed the Hamilton Spectator building at the 403 that I felt my innards relax.

That's the issue with the winter we've had in the GTA this year, you just aren't ready for "the fun stuff"

Good god, lucky for the resident famous fuzzball that it isn't Ground Hog Day yet. Only way you'd get Wiarton Willie out in weather like that is to grab the little fuzzball by the nexk from his burrow & yank

If that happens, I'm sure they'll find another poor groundhog that will be violently waken from his deep slumber.

Ah yes, the infamous "stiff" replacement Willie.

Last week the Associated Press published what may be the most bizarre caption correction to have ever moved on the wires. AP corrected the spelling of the late Wiarton Willie the Groundhog's name, but more significantly, they also had to explain that their photographer had been lied to when he took a photo that purported to show the recently departed creature in his coffin. Apparently the real late Willie had been dead so long, and was so badly decomposed when his handlers tried to roust him for Groundhog Day, that they used an older stuffed groundhog as a stand-in for their photo of Willie's wake.

This has been looming over Lake Erie all day.

A similar monster cloud is over Lake Ontario but it doesn't look as impressive from down here. Looks amazing from Sandplant Hill though.

If past history is any guide, the "up to 40 cm" will translate to "maybe a light dusting" here.

You won't be in the direct path of any streamers coming in off a lake and EC never said anything otherwise, so the entire comparison is moot anyway.

Hell, you might not even get a light dusting and instead will have nothing but clear skies at night and sun during the day, sans huge looming black clouds to your north and south.
