Since the super storm Sandy the box in demand and often not available at local FIOS stores is the 7232 DVR. 7100-p2s are routinely easy to find it seems. |

| Yes bohratom, but the OP is implying you need a 'trick' to get the box (even a non-DVR) for free. I'm saying you don't need a trick, just walk in and ask for an upgraded model. |

| It doesn't really matter... if it doesn't work, they will replace it... but I would suggest that you go to a VZ store and get one for free, like I did. |

$40 only guaranteed you than you will get a 7232 model, not another older model like the 7216.
As to whether it is new or refurbished that depends on what they have in stock. Even new installs are not guaranteed brand new equipment. |

That looks like a Moto 25XX STB, not a 6XXX series STB.
Definitely SD only, no HD, no mpeg-4 support.
Have you tried going to the NHL channel descibed by the OP?
What do you see?
Do you get to order a new STB? |

Seems like everyone is getting the 7216 model, what are the chances that I get a new DVR if I call in and complain?

I called fios up and was told that if I upgrade my free for life sd box, I would now have to pay the monthly rental fee for the new box.... |

| So in effect you are told that you can return your free SD box and order a HD box at regular price.
You can also keep the free SD box and just order a HD box at regular price.
Verizon would not be stupid enough to upgrade a free for life SD box to a free for life HD box.
The only people getting this free upgrade are those paying a monthly fee for their existing HD box. |

You people are funny believing making this switch is enticing Verizon accelarate their switch to MPEG4. They are regularly installing 6XXX DVR's and HD's on new installs !

If the process was successful it will provide you a Verizon order number that you can then track online. Did you receive one? |
