Laptop help Compaq presario F700

Charger works and all but what happens is as soon as you press the power button it turns right off again in about 2 seconds without anything showing up or anything.

Any clues to what could be wrong?

Found a video on youtube with the same issue

Could be some of the solder joints connecting the video chip to the motherboard have come loose. This was a common problem with some HP/Compaq models with NVidia video chips.

You could try reheating the video chip with a heat gun or hair dryer. There should be some youtube videos on how to do this.

yeah I was going to say, I don't have a heat gun but is a hair dryer hot enough?

No a hair dryer won't work. I checked some links and it won't get as hot as a heat gun.
Another method you can try is the oven method. Remove everything from the motherboard like RAM, CMOS battery, etc and place in an oven for 8-10mins at around 200C. If you google 'hp dv6000 oven', it will have some links.
