New U-Verse Internet Only Install Random Short Drops Hello, I just got an Internet only U-Verse install. I had all sorts of problems keeping the line up, so I ran a new home run from the dmarc. I ran about 60 feet of Cat 5e cable directly from the outside AT&T box to the RG. On the outside, the connection is crimp caps, on the inside, the cable is directly terminated with an RJ-11 plug. So there is very little to go wrong between AT&T and the RG.
This is my first time dealing with U-Verse, but my bitloading graph seems to have a big gap. Any thoughts on if this might be related to my random short drops?
Thanks for any advice.
Ugh, that bitloading graph is horrid. I'm amazed you're doing as well are you are with it looking like that. You have major issues somewhere beyond the demarc. Get on the horn to Tier 2 or post in the AT&T Direct forum. Your line likely needs work from I&R.
Also, as far as I'm aware, crimp caps are not up to spec for VDSL UVerse. They have switched over to the gel-filled modules.
| Thanks, I actually called first level to give them a chance. The tech came out and re-terminated everything. Here's my newest bitloading graph. I'll have to see if things actually improve. In the past 24 hours before the tech visit I had 12 link retrains, so I should see relatively quickly if things have improved.|
What do you think of this latest graph. Is that acceptable?
Better, but your still having some drop out in the lower frequencies and a large portion of your upper frequencies are missing. If it works for you, then you should be okay, but you still have some issues on your line.
