Definitely need more than what is listed here. What about things like Kingsoft and Roboscan?

Usually there is a choice for 'other' for not so well known choices, then the poster can name the choice in his/her comments.

Roger that, thanks.

I would certainly add AVG to the poll, and also GData and TrendMicro.

all antivirus are obsolete if you are using windows 8 you just dont need it so maybe add windows 8 as a choice ?

Huh? Why do you think antivirus is obsolete in Win 8? Windows Defender is built into Win 8. Microsoft certainly does not think AV is obsolete in Win 8.

I am waiting for Online Armor to become available for Win 8. I want both AV and HIPS for it.

Kaspersky on the laptop, AVG Pro on the phone and Zoner on the tablet.

Curious how you are liking AVG Pro on your phone? What phone do you have?

Thanks.

As for me, to stay on topic, I have licenses for different machines and the setups are differing on each. So I don't have just "one" AV solution that I use. Here goes, from memory.

ESS v6
NIS 2013
Avast Internet Security
WSA
Avira Internet Security
Bitdefender Internet Security 2013

There might be one or two that I am missing, but I think that covers it.

Samsung Galaxy Proclaim. AVG seems to be ok. Haven't been infected yet that I know of, but I don't do much with the phone other than calls, text and occasionally check the news and weather. The low battery indicator has been the most useful feature so far. The Anti-Theft feature seems like a security risk to me so I've avoided using it.

Nice. What is the deal with the Anti-Theft feature and why do you feel it a security risk?

I am currently using Bitdefender on my Nexus 4. Its nice and light. Not sure of detection rate yet but will know in a few weeks. Last I checked, Avast was tops followed by Lookout in terms of Android malware detection.

Just something about being able to remotely wipe the phone that makes me uncomfortable. What if the site is compromised or my email account associated with the phone and used to activate AVG is hacked. Can some stranger delete my stuff? The phone requires a pin number but if someone did gain access then they also have access to the email account until I get online and change the password. Can they simply uninstall AVG and not worry about being tracked down or any of the apps and information being erased? I don't really know. It seems to be more trouble than it's worth. If it's not in my hand then it's in my pocket or on the nightstand, so I'm willing to take my chances doing without the Anti-Theft feature.

I've used the Comodo products the past few years. Might want to include that as an option?

While it risks making the poll too complicated, would it be useful or of interest to split out the free versions of a given brand from the collective paid versions, as separate choices? A number of AVs offer both "models", but they may not be necessarily equally-used nor equally-effective in user estimation.

I fully understand your concern. My guess is that anything would be possible. However part of the reason that I use an AV on my phone is for anti-theft and remote wiping. If it falls into the wrong hands I will be able to log into a website and remotely wipe it. It just gives me peace of mind.

What about ZoneAlarm? They even provide a free AV version.

Remote wipe and lock, geo-locate, etc - are mobile A/V app features, Trooper See Profile
I think that's beyond the scope of the intention of this thread.

While I agree, things happen. Its called being part of a discussion. His running AVG on his phone was part of it, Anti-Theft was a sidebar. This thread needs to be re-organized anyway and a proper poll setup. Until that happens it is what is is.

Not really, as most desktop A/V apps don't offer these features, thus, these are beyond the scope of this thread.
It isn't what it is... since this isn't what you asked initially, yes ?

I think you need to make this as "across the board" as possible...

+1 on this. Several multiple mentions from the "What are you running" thread like AVG & Bit Dedfender are absent. They shouldn't be relegated to "other", I suspect their user base exceeds some that did make this draft list.

Edit: My bad, I thought I posted about AVG there, but it was here. Still, my point remains the same.
