It had been a long time coming. The lawyers were ready, beaming from behind their tables. The jury selection had gone well, both sides were sure they had a sympathetic jury. One by one, the defendants marched in. Would this be a quick trial, or long and drawn out?

Win condition

There are two equally sized teams of town defendants: guilty and innocent. The game ends when one of these two teams is completely incarcerated.

Periods:

- Courtroom debate
This is the “day” period. Everyone can talk and argue with each other, except for the jury, who may only observe and must remain silent. In this game, you can only FOS players, not vote for them. The jury can take who garnered the most suspicion during courtroom debate into consideration, but they are not bound to follow it. The vote counter will be used to track suspicion counts, so make sure to use FOS: player in bold. Courtroom debate ends when the judge makes a bolded, all caps BANG GAVEL post.

- Jury deliberation
This is the “night” period. During this period only the jury members can talk, and everyone else must stay silent. Jury deliberation ends when all members of the jury unanimously decide to convict one of the players and incarcerate them.

Conviction & Incarceration

When a player is convicted by the jury they are incarcerated. They may still participate during the courtroom debate, however their affiliation will have been revealed and they may only make 5 posts per debate period. The Judge, members of the jury and the bailiff cannot be convicted.

Misc
No private communication, thumbs up etc.

Roles:

Judge
You are the judge. You decide when the game goes from courtroom debate to jury deliberation. To declare the switch, make a post that says BANG GAVEL in bolded all caps. If the bailiff has silenced someone, you may declare them unsilenced if you choose. You win with the town. You cannot be convicted.

Bailiff
You are the court bailiff. If you think someone is BSing the court during courtroom debate, you can silence them for that debate period. You can only do this to one person per debate period, and you can silence incarcerated players as well. To silence a player type an all caps bolded PLAYERNAME IS OUT OF ORDER post. You win with the town. You cannot be convicted.

Juror
You are a member of the jury. During jury deliberation, you and the other members of the jury decide who to convict. Once convicted the affiliation of the defendant will be revealed and they will be incarcerated for the rest of the game. You win with the town. You cannot be convicted.

Innocent/Guilty Town Defendant
Your goal is to not be convicted. You win with the town/mafia.
